Capt Spencer Cookson is a full-time professional fishing guide who splits his seasons between Florida and New England. From November through May, Spencer guides anglers across Florida’s best bass fisheries, including the Lake Ida–Lake Osborne Chain, the Everglades, and Headwaters Lake. During the summer months, he returns north to guide in New England, giving him a year-round perspective on bass fishing across diverse waters.
Spencer targets peacock bass, largemouth bass, and the exotic clown knife fish while in Florida. His expertise comes from both guiding and competing, with an impressive tournament record. In his very first season fishing the Major League Fishing Phoenix Bass Fishing League, Spencer ranked 26th out of 250 anglers in the Northeast Division, including two top 10 finishes on Lake Champlain.
Known as a skilled shallow-water grass fisherman, Spencer brings a tournament-level mindset to every charter while still making the trip relaxed and family-friendly. He guides from a Skeeter ZXR 20 bass boat powered by a 250 HP Yamaha VMAX engine, fully outfitted with Douglas rods, Shimano and Lew’s reels, and a complete selection of tackle to fit any fishing style.
Spencer enjoys starting early to take advantage of peak fishing conditions, but he remains flexible with scheduling to meet the needs of his guests. His greatest passion is teaching new techniques, sharing knowledge, and ensuring that clients of all experience levels leave the water with new skills and big smiles.
