SOUTH REGION – LAKE OKEECHOBEE
Okeechobee, FL

Sanford, FL

The rig will be fished towards the weed line, over submerged vegetation, and may also be close to an underwater tree stump. In the summer months, your fish without a float and fish deeper, which could consist of 6 to 15 feet of water.
The bait should remain in the water while it’s waited for some time so the fish can see it. The slackline is tightened when the float disappears until the hook is firmly in the fish’s mouth. Artificial lures and flies also can be thrown in similar locations. During your preparation, be sure to research the correct types of fishing hooks, this will land you additional fish. Generally, panfishing is a slow, steady, and efficient retrieval process no matter the lure or bait.

These are available for fishing in shallower waters on rigs deep below the surface. We love using jigs to catch crappy. Whether vertically cast or trolling a waterway, it is a versatile bait to use. The 1/8 ounce jig works perfectly. Chartreuse is a color of high intensity on dark-colored waters. However, the crappie lies near the river’s edge in cleaner water during the spawn seasons, so white, silver, and other natural colors will work.
Fishing for all Florida Panfish
Fishing for panfish is easy for most Florida anglers and most anglers in general. Many people grab an 18-foot cane pole with a light line. A certain kind of bait such as worms, Missouri minnow, or crickets is expected, and they head to the fish hole. These types of fishermen have a great relaxation and are still very effective today.

Spotted Sunfish (stumpknocker)
Sunfish or “Stumpknocker’ is also an incredibly common Florida panfish. This explains their love of woody structures. Redear Sunfish (shellcrackers)

“The Rodman Reservoir has to be my favorite place to fish and guide. On this trip, I had the pleasure of fishing with Don, his son Dan, and grandsons Ryan, and Austin. There is nothing like a family trip on the water especially when the bass are fired up.
Being Florida natives and a repeat client of iOutdoor, I had to make sure to show his family a great time. During this trip, the largemouth bass were stacked up in key areas. As of current, the drawdown is still in effect and certain areas are more productive than others.
Don and his family caught a total of 26 largemouth bass on this fishing trip. Dan came in strong with the biggest bass of the trip weighing in at 8 pounds 11 ounces. A true Rodman Reservoir monster!
His son Ryan also caught a big beautiful largemouth bass weighing in at 8 pounds 4 ounces. 3 out of the 4 anglers caught their new personal best largemouth bass with numbers of fish in the 3-6 pound range.

“Clearwater, big bass, and great artificial bait fishing is what the Harris Chain of Lakes is all about. I had the pleasure of fishing with repeat client Rebecca and Treves on this trip. They were traveling from South Carolina just to fish the Harris Chain. 
When fishing in this chain, you can explore it in many different ways. We started the day fishing offshore structure with artificial baits. Lake Griffin, especially on the south end, was on fire.
The most productive baits for this trip were crankbaits and magnum-sized soft plastic worms. Several nice fish were caught this way and they had a blast with every bite. Underwater structures like submerged hydrilla really congregate the bass into key locations.
After the artificial bite slowed down, Rebecca and Treves switched over to live bait. Giant wild caught live shiners put some really quality fish in the boat. Hydrilla was the main focus and helped them land some beautiful fish up to 5 pounds.
I am looking forward to fishing with them again soon as they are already planning their next trip! Everyone on board had a blast reeling in the quality of Florida largemouth.” – Captain Gino Losi

“Lake Toho Bass Fishing is an excellent family outdoor activity to experience when visiting Central Florida. I had the pleasure of fishing with Kevin, Brendon, Josie, and Maggie. They were traveling from Minnesota looking to cash in on some Florida bass fishing and they hit it just right.
Most of the fishing trip was spent throwing live bait. As this quick 4-hour afternoon fishing trip went on, they also threw some artificial baits. The Bjorge family caught over 20 Florida largemouth bass on their fishing trip with the biggest bass weighing in at 4.5 pounds.
The bite was steady for pretty much the whole fishing trip. As the sun began to go down, the bite did taper off making for a great end to the day. This family had a fantastic time landing bass after bass.

“Select times throughout the year, Lake Tarpon Bass Fishing is incredibly productive for big bass. During this trip, the big bass were biting and everyone on board caught some giant fish.
I had the pleasure of fishing with Bucky and his wife Sharon. They were traveling from Montana looking to catch some largemouth bass near Tampa, Florida.
Lake Tarpon is located in Tarpon Springs, FL, just north of Tampa. This clearwater lake provides the perfect freshwater getaway for catching big bass. Bucky and Sharon will be the first people to tell you the potential this lake can have. 
They caught over 20 largemouth bass on this fishing trip. The best 5 fish weighed in over 26 pounds, which is a monster bag. Days like this are what anglers live for, especially when your two biggest bass weighed-in at 7 and 6 pounds.
Sunny and breezy weather made for an even better day. Nothing like catching big bass and enjoying beautiful weather. The most productive bait on this trip was live wild-caught shiners. Live bait really helps our clients and anglers cash in on some quality fish all trip long.

“Most days on Lake Okeechobee are interesting and keep you on your toes. This trip was a great one and super fun for all involved. I had the great pleasure of fishing with Yousuo and his friend Rei. Originally from China, they now live in Washington State. On vacation here in Florida, exploring Florida freshwater bass fishing was a must.
There is no better place to explore than Lake Okeechobee. While visiting Clewiston, they explored the waters of the southwest corner of the Big O. It is always a pleasure to share a boat with anglers that are passionate about fishing. Learning new techniques was their main goal of this fishing trip.
Fishing conditions paired up well to help Yousuo and Rei land some good numbers. Yousuo caught his personal best and a giant Florida bass weighing close to 8 pounds. A mix of artificial baits and live bait really made for a great day on the water.
Water levels are rising giving anglers more areas to fish. As a result, big fish are moving into shallow water and getting ready to spawn. Each moon phase, you will continue to see bigger and bigger fish caught.

“I had the pleasure of fishing with Kathy and Russ on a Lake Ida fishing trip. They were traveling from Connecticut looking to spend some time in the Florida sunshine. While doing so, a peacock bass fishing adventure was on the menu. 
Lake Ida could be a very temperamental destination when it comes to cooler weather. Fortunately enough for this trip, the cool air temperatures did not stop the peacock bass from biting. Kathy and Russ had a fantastic time reeling in numbers of peacock bass on live bait.
Once the sun came out and got strong, the bite fired up. Kathy and Russ caught over 16 peacock bass on their quick trip along with several largemouth bass. It was a blast to watch and help them land so many quality fish. The biggest bass weighed right around 3.5 pounds.

“I had the great pleasure of fishing with Shaw and Camila traveling from South Carolina. They embarked on a quick afternoon 4-hour fishing trip on Miami Airport Lakes. It was a trip that they will remember for a lifetime.
It was a windy day in Miami but that played to our advantage. After spending an hour waiting for the prime feed to kick on, we picked away at some smaller peacock bass. Prior trips made me realize that the peacock bass were going to be in warmer water during this time of year.
We picked up and moved to an area within Miami Airport Lakes that had perfect conditions. From the first bait in the water to the last, they were catching trophy-sized peacock bass.
The bite was on fire and they caught 5 peacock bass over 5 pounds with the biggest fish weighing in at 6.5 pounds. This was Camila’s first time fishing and it was safe to say she got addicted quickly, especially with all this big fish action.

“I had the pleasure of fishing with Mark and his good friend who were Florida natives looking to explore the Everglades. Man, did they pick the right day to go out fishing with artificial and live bait.
The Florida peacock bass and largemouth bass were fired up all trip long. It was a super half or 6-hour fishing trip of non-stop catching action. Live bait was the most productive method to catch bass on this fishing trip, especially the peacock bass. Throwing soft plastic baits including worms and flukes also helped out. 
Mark and his good friend caught over 70 fish on this trip. It was an incredible day for both of them. Sunny and windy conditions helped keep the day cool and the fish biting. One of the coolest parts about the Everglades is that the peacock bass made it through the canal systems and flourished at this destination.

Enjoy this October Bass Fishing Report in Central Florida!
Captain Brent Nelson had the pleasure of fishing with Thomas and Dan. They were traveling to Central Florida to enjoy a day of bass fishing from Fort Walton Beach, FL. One of their top choices was Lake Toho in Kissimmee, FL. The October bass fishing has been red hot and these guys had a great time on the boat. Captain Brent got them around some quality largemouth bass.
When it comes to Lake Toho Bass Fishing, one fundamental structure produces fish: grass. Submerged grass or hydrilla creates a safe haven for both baitfish and larger prey. As a result, it builds a feeding ground for hungry largemouth bass.
Thomas and Dan caught 32 largemouth bass on this fishing trip. Most of the fish ranged from 1.5 pounds up to 5 pounds. For the month of October, you can’t really beat that action. Most of the fish came on wild-caught live shiners which made for some great action. As well, they caught bass on artificial baits consisting of trick worms and sencos around the grass lines.
Fishing conditions were cloudy and windy which helped with the bite. Thomas and Dan had a blast catching fish all trip long. Captain Brent is looking forward to their next fishing adventure soon!
It was not long after this fishing trip that Captain Brent was back out on Lake Toho. This trip was slightly different and so was the action. Captain Brent had the pleasure of fishing with Markus, who was traveling from Frankfurt, Germany to set the hook into a Central Florida bass.
Central Florida Fishing Trips are the highlight for many travelers’ experiences in Florida. Markus was really excited to get out on the water and make something happen. The bite was productive but not as strong as the last trip.
Markus wanted to use only artificial baits and Captain Brent came through strong. He caught over 20 Florida largemouth bass on this fishing trip. All the bass were taken on zoom trick worms, senco style worms, and zoom super flukes. Markus’s biggest bass weighed in at 4 pounds.
Yet again, the most productive areas were around submerged vegetation and grass lines. If you can find these structures that also have access to deeper waters, you will find some quality fish. Windy conditions helped push bait into key areas that also helped the bite.
Markus could not have been more ecstatic about his fishing experience here in Central Florida. Captain Brent is looking forward to getting back out on the water soon!

September is a great month to go inshore fishing for many reasons. Snook Season is most certainly one of them. September 1st opened up harvest season for Snook Fishing in Florida. You are allowed to keep 1 fish per day within 28-32” on the east coast with a valid Snook stamp and license. Central Florida Fishing Report for Offshore/Deep Sea Fishing
If you’re the one that wants to cruise offshore and into the deep blue sea, Cape Canaveral Deep Sea Fishing is a great way to do so. When it comes to Offshore Fishing in Cape Canaveral, you have two different styles of fishing: Bottom Fishing and Trolling. These two different styles yield different action and species. Deep-Sea Fishing can be fun as you can change it up and catch a multitude of species on one trip. If you can bear the seas, spend as much time as possible on the water.
Deep-Sea Fishing provide a unique perspective of Central Florida. It is amazing to be able to travel offshore and catch fish with the sight of land. This style of fishing can provide some delicious species to catch-and-cook. Right now, both bottom fishing and trolling are red hot. We want to highlight the bottom fishing for red snapper during this month. Our Local Expert and Captain Mark Gay is an exceptional guide for inshore and deep-sea fishing. He reports that the bottom fishing for red snapper is exceptional right now. After by-catching hungry sharks on the wrecks, Captain Mark started hooking into some really nice snapper. The whole month of September will be a great month for bottom fishing here in Central Florida. 
When the seas are calm, Captain Mark travels out to local and close-to-shore reefs that hold some awesome fishing. Summertime is a great time to go offshore because most of the time, the seas are calm. Winds are light and the breeze keeps the day cooler than it would be without wind. Luckily, when this happens Captain Mark can get offshore to his local spots for monster Red Snapper. As a result, he can put you on some awesome fish.
If you want to stay constantly moving, trolling may be a great bet for you. Late summer months like this one, call for sight-fishing offshore. Right now is a slower month for offshore trolling but you can have fun catching King Mackerel and Bonita. A constant variable to having success when trolling or sight-fishing is that you have to find one of two things: Structure or Birds. In order to capitalize on your trolling trip, you have to be on the lookout for structure. The structure can include floating wood or debris, sargasm lines, or anything that will attract fish. This structure naturally provides a place for smaller fish to hide and feed, which makes the bigger fish attracted to it. If you spot something like this in the distance, be sure to shut down super early and get everything ready before pursuing further. Luckily, your local expert will know exactly what to do.
Another offshore or deep sea variable to success is birds. Birds will give you clues to where the bait is. Bait is an integral factor in having success. If you find the bait, you will find the fish. Captain Steve Niemoeller had the pleasure of fishing with Chris on the Butler Chain of Lakes. He was traveling from England looking to explore more of what Central Florida has to offer. After spending some time with his family at Disney, getting on the water was a must. Captain Steve suggested the Butler Chain in Orlando, FL and off they went.
It was a quick 4-hour fishing charter, but the action was hot and heavy. Chris landed over 15 Central FL largemouth on this trip. The biggest fish came in at 7.1 pounds and it was absolutely amazing. Check out this video to see the full action and potential of what the Butler Chain can offer you. 
Captain Devin Dickerson also has been out Central Florida fishing. Generally this is what he has to say: “ Bass fishing is getting better. Early morning bites are the best. The bite dies down by 10 AM or 11 AM. Find moving waters or cover to help get the bass to the boat.” If you can get out during the early morning hours, you can see some success catching bass on topwater baits or live bait.
Melvin had the opportunity to explore the Butler Chain of Lakes as well. Captain Devin had the pleasure of fishing with him. Melvin was traveling from Georgia looking to cash in on some Florida bass fishing. While doing so, he landed over 20 Florida bass with the biggest weighing over 6-pounds. This was the exact reason why Melvin wanted to come fishing and Captain Devin made it happen for him. Captain Devin is looking forward to getting back out on the water again with him soon!

Captain Brent had the pleasure of fishing with Chad and his son Wynn. They were traveling to Orlando and wanted to change some things up and explore the Butler Chain of Lakes. This clear body of water is absolutely gorgeous. Once you board the vessel with Captain Brent, you will idle out into a chain of lakes that have multi-million dollar homes and big numbers of bass.
The most productive technique for young children is wild-caught live shiners. Live bait really brings the bass to the boat. They caught over 20 largemouth bass in their quick 4-hour fishing charter. The biggest bass weighed 4 pounds over submerged hydrilla. Wynn was 9-years-old and looked like a seasoned veteran while catching his first largemouth bass.
It is trips like this that make Captain Brent’s job a true pleasure. Chad and Wynn got to share an experience they will never forget. They also got to learn a new technique that can foster a passion for fishing forever. Captain Brent is looking forward to fishing with them in the near future!
Shortly after this fishing trip, Captain Brent was back on the water on Lake Jackson. This fishery is a hidden paradise for largemouth bass fishing. Captain Brent had the pleasure of fishing with Mike Watson and his brother Chris. The action was off the chain and was beyond what they expected. Lake Jackson is a magical place where you can go to catch more bass than your arms can handle. 
Mike and his brother Chris had an absolute blast on this fishing adventure. They caught 60 Florida largemouth bass. The biggest fish weighed 5.5 pounds. It was non-stop action from start to finish on their quick 4-hour fishing trip. They went through 8 dozen shiners and the water levels were low stacking the fish up.
Mike and Chris couldn’t be more excited to get back in Central Florida and catch more bass. Captain Brent is looking forward to their next fishing adventure in the near future!
It was not after this fishing trip that Captain Brent was back on the water. This time, his adventures took him to Kissimmee, FL. Captain Brent had the pleasure of fishing with Luke Anthony traveled all the way from the United Kingdom. It was a fun morning for Luke as it was his first-time bass fishing. Lake Toho Bass Fishing is a great introductory fishery to experience something new!
Not only did Luke catch his first largemouth bass but also his personal best. Luke landed a beautiful 6-pound largemouth on this fishing trip with topped the 18 bass caught. This wasn’t the largest fish though. Luke got to experience another cool species, the bowfin. He landed an 8-pound mudfish that always put up a great fight.
Luke had an awesome time catching bass on both live shiners and artificial baits. The most productive artificial baits were zoom super flukes and soft-plastic worms. Captain Brent is looking 
forward to getting Luke back on the water again on his next visit to Central Florida!

Typically, December through March is the prime times to catch bass during the spawn. Now, the spawn has continued through the month of April. March and April are prime times to come catch a trophy largemouth bass.

The largemouth bass currently are in all three phases. You have plenty of bass in pre-spawn, spawn, and post-spawn phases. This makes fishing very exciting and worth experiencing.
