“The Rodman Reservoir has to be my favorite place to fish and guide. On this trip, I had the pleasure of fishing with Don, his son Dan, and grandsons Ryan, and Austin. There is nothing like a family trip on the water especially when the bass are fired up.
Being Florida natives and a repeat client of iOutdoor, I had to make sure to show his family a great time. During this trip, the largemouth bass were stacked up in key areas. As of current, the drawdown is still in effect and certain areas are more productive than others.
Don and his family caught a total of 26 largemouth bass on this fishing trip. Dan came in strong with the biggest bass of the trip weighing in at 8 pounds 11 ounces. A true Rodman Reservoir monster!
His son Ryan also caught a big beautiful largemouth bass weighing in at 8 pounds 4 ounces. 3 out of the 4 anglers caught their new personal best largemouth bass with numbers of fish in the 3-6 pound range.

“Clearwater, big bass, and great artificial bait fishing is what the Harris Chain of Lakes is all about. I had the pleasure of fishing with repeat client Rebecca and Treves on this trip. They were traveling from South Carolina just to fish the Harris Chain. 
When fishing in this chain, you can explore it in many different ways. We started the day fishing offshore structure with artificial baits. Lake Griffin, especially on the south end, was on fire.
The most productive baits for this trip were crankbaits and magnum-sized soft plastic worms. Several nice fish were caught this way and they had a blast with every bite. Underwater structures like submerged hydrilla really congregate the bass into key locations.
After the artificial bite slowed down, Rebecca and Treves switched over to live bait. Giant wild caught live shiners put some really quality fish in the boat. Hydrilla was the main focus and helped them land some beautiful fish up to 5 pounds.
I am looking forward to fishing with them again soon as they are already planning their next trip! Everyone on board had a blast reeling in the quality of Florida largemouth.” – Captain Gino Losi

“Lake Toho Bass Fishing is an excellent family outdoor activity to experience when visiting Central Florida. I had the pleasure of fishing with Kevin, Brendon, Josie, and Maggie. They were traveling from Minnesota looking to cash in on some Florida bass fishing and they hit it just right.
Most of the fishing trip was spent throwing live bait. As this quick 4-hour afternoon fishing trip went on, they also threw some artificial baits. The Bjorge family caught over 20 Florida largemouth bass on their fishing trip with the biggest bass weighing in at 4.5 pounds.
The bite was steady for pretty much the whole fishing trip. As the sun began to go down, the bite did taper off making for a great end to the day. This family had a fantastic time landing bass after bass.

“Select times throughout the year, Lake Tarpon Bass Fishing is incredibly productive for big bass. During this trip, the big bass were biting and everyone on board caught some giant fish.
I had the pleasure of fishing with Bucky and his wife Sharon. They were traveling from Montana looking to catch some largemouth bass near Tampa, Florida.
Lake Tarpon is located in Tarpon Springs, FL, just north of Tampa. This clearwater lake provides the perfect freshwater getaway for catching big bass. Bucky and Sharon will be the first people to tell you the potential this lake can have. 
They caught over 20 largemouth bass on this fishing trip. The best 5 fish weighed in over 26 pounds, which is a monster bag. Days like this are what anglers live for, especially when your two biggest bass weighed-in at 7 and 6 pounds.
Sunny and breezy weather made for an even better day. Nothing like catching big bass and enjoying beautiful weather. The most productive bait on this trip was live wild-caught shiners. Live bait really helps our clients and anglers cash in on some quality fish all trip long.

“Most days on Lake Okeechobee are interesting and keep you on your toes. This trip was a great one and super fun for all involved. I had the great pleasure of fishing with Yousuo and his friend Rei. Originally from China, they now live in Washington State. On vacation here in Florida, exploring Florida freshwater bass fishing was a must.
There is no better place to explore than Lake Okeechobee. While visiting Clewiston, they explored the waters of the southwest corner of the Big O. It is always a pleasure to share a boat with anglers that are passionate about fishing. Learning new techniques was their main goal of this fishing trip.
Fishing conditions paired up well to help Yousuo and Rei land some good numbers. Yousuo caught his personal best and a giant Florida bass weighing close to 8 pounds. A mix of artificial baits and live bait really made for a great day on the water.
Water levels are rising giving anglers more areas to fish. As a result, big fish are moving into shallow water and getting ready to spawn. Each moon phase, you will continue to see bigger and bigger fish caught.

The Lake Ida Chain of Lakes is an exceptional peacock bass fishery for those traveling to Fort Lauderdale, FL or Palm Beach, FL. When looking to catch exotics, you can have a blast exploring this urban fishery. The fishing has been red hot and is only going to get better as the weather stabilizes.
“I had the pleasure of fishing with Kathy and Russ on a Lake Ida fishing trip. They were traveling from Connecticut looking to spend some time in the Florida sunshine. While doing so, a peacock bass fishing adventure was on the menu. 
Lake Ida could be a very temperamental destination when it comes to cooler weather. Fortunately enough for this trip, the cool air temperatures did not stop the peacock bass from biting. Kathy and Russ had a fantastic time reeling in numbers of peacock bass on live bait.
Once the sun came out and got strong, the bite fired up. Kathy and Russ caught over 16 peacock bass on their quick trip along with several largemouth bass. It was a blast to watch and help them land so many quality fish. The biggest bass weighed right around 3.5 pounds.
There is nothing like having customers on the boat that you can laugh and share stories with. Trips like these are cherished and fly by. I am looking forward to getting back out on the water with them again soon!” – Captain Joe Gruny

Miami is home to the BEST peacock bass fishing in the United States. There is no other destination that can support this species other than South Florida. This exotic species is a hard-fighter and grows large right in these waters.
“I had the great pleasure of fishing with Shaw and Camila traveling from South Carolina. They embarked on a quick afternoon 4-hour fishing trip on Miami Airport Lakes. It was a trip that they will remember for a lifetime.
It was a windy day in Miami but that played to our advantage. After spending an hour waiting for the prime feed to kick on, we picked away at some smaller peacock bass. Prior trips made me realize that the peacock bass were going to be in warmer water during this time of year.
We picked up and moved to an area within Miami Airport Lakes that had perfect conditions. From the first bait in the water to the last, they were catching trophy-sized peacock bass.
The bite was on fire and they caught 5 peacock bass over 5 pounds with the biggest fish weighing in at 6.5 pounds. This was Camila’s first time fishing and it was safe to say she got addicted quickly, especially with all this big fish action.
Nothing beats catching big peacock bass that runs hard and gives a great fight. Shaw and Camila had a fantastic time on the water and I am looking forward to fishing with them again soon!” – Captain Robert Miley

The Florida Everglades is one of the BEST destinations to explore for both largemouth bass and peacock bass. You can catch an outrageous amount of bass in a short period of time when visiting South Florida.
“I had the pleasure of fishing with Mark and his good friend who were Florida natives looking to explore the Everglades. Man, did they pick the right day to go out fishing with artificial and live bait.
The Florida peacock bass and largemouth bass were fired up all trip long. It was a super half or 6-hour fishing trip of non-stop catching action. Live bait was the most productive method to catch bass on this fishing trip, especially the peacock bass. Throwing soft plastic baits including worms and flukes also helped out. 
Mark and his good friend caught over 70 fish on this trip. It was an incredible day for both of them. Sunny and windy conditions helped keep the day cool and the fish biting. One of the coolest parts about the Everglades is that the peacock bass made it through the canal systems and flourished at this destination.
Alligator Alley is the most productive place to land peacock bass in the Everglades. Mark and his good friend had a blast catching all those fish. I am looking forward to seeing them back out on the water again soon!” – Captain Nick Pasquarello

July Marco Island Fishing
Marco Island happens to be one of the most breath-taking destinations in Florida. The white sandy beaches, calm waters, and the authentic culture of Marco Island make it a prime vacation spot. When looking out on the water, you will see numbers or travelers and locals enjoying the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Marco Island, FL is surrounded by saltwater. If you can’t get away from it, you might as well run towards it. If saltwater isn’t your thing though, Marco Island presents hidden gems just a short drive away. Freshwater fishing for peacock and largemouth bass in an urban or wild setting can really provide a twist to your vacation. 
When it comes to fishing in Marco Island, inshore fishing truly dominates. The backwater mangrove lines along with the passes allow for prime fishing territory. Ambush predators like Snook, Tarpon, Trout, and Jack Crevalle all are waiting for you to cast a lure. Our local experts have spent many years dialing in on the fish here in Marco Island. They are your best bet to get you 
on some excellent fishing all year long.
Summer months bring about great saltwater fishing. Our local expert and Captain Rick Mitchell have provided several families, travelers, and anglers with exceptional catches this time of year. A wide variety of species have been biting.
Steve and his family were traveling to Marco Island, FL on vacation. While doing so, they wanted to get out on the water. Steve’s wife gets seasick so they decided to explore an inshore fishing charter. The calm waters and active catches made it the perfect match for them.
Captain Rick put Steve and his family on a number of fish. The most common catches were Snook, Spotted Sea Trout, Mangrove Snapper, Pompano, and Spanish Mackerel. These are excellent catches that can be enjoyed just for the fight or for the dinner table. Conservation is important but you are allowed to harvest your legal limits of fish when the FWC grants it. Your local expert will be up-to-date with all the newest regulations.
It was not long after that that Captain Rick spent two days on the water with Jacob and Caleb. These brothers were really looking to get the full experience here in Marco Island. The only way to do so is with freshwater and saltwater fishing trips. They spent one-day fishing inshore along the backwaters and another day in the Florida Everglades. 
Marco Island Inshore Fishing granted them 7 Snook along with several Redfish. The action is red hot for inshore fishing. Florida Everglades bass fishing was also very exciting for Jacob and Caleb. They caught 12 peacock bass along with 22 largemouth bass on their fishing trip. Artificial lures and live bait were effective on this fishing trip.
Captain Rick is looking forward to spending more time on the water with these brothers in the near future!

Miami Peacock Bass Fishing with Captain Joe Gruny
Our journey begins at the crack of dawn on a Saturday morning on a warm April day in Miami. We were going to adventure out into the urban jungle to catch the elusive peacock bass. These hard fighting, colorful and majestic species of bass allow for the most remarkable freshwater fishing experience. Louke and his family arrived at the meeting location excited as ever to see what this fishing charter had to offer. They had no idea what was in-store for them.
Louke was 12-years old and loved to fish. It was not his first time bass fishing but the young man never caught a peacock bass before. Traveling to South Florida from Fort Worth, Texas was a dream of his so he can adventure out to catch this elusive species. Miami was the best location to visit in order to accomplish his goal.
There is most certainly a thrill to put your boat in the water here in Miami. The Miami Falls Canal System can truly bless you with the most incredible Florida peacock bass fishing. Louke and his family hopped aboard Captain Joe Gruny’s Ranger bass boat and off they went winding through the urban canal system. Taking their time to respect the residents of this beautiful South Florida fishing destination, they were able to experience the abundance of wildlife present. Iguanas and birds of all shapes and sizes filled the banks throughout the system.
Arriving to our fishing location was one of the best feelings for Louke. Captain Joe reached deep in his rod locker to pull out a very special rod for him. It was a Berkley Lighting Rod with an Abu Garcia Pro Max spinning reel that was sure to land him a fish of a lifetime if it bites. In order to keep our spots preserved and primed, they trolling motored to their location.
At our first Fishing Charter location, Louke got a big bite. It was a species we were not targeting but excited to still catch. Louke fought and landed a 6.75 largemouth bass. They were truly amazed at how healthy this fish was. After catching this incredible largemouth, they moved to a location that Captain Joe knew was a gold mine for peacock bass. Stealthy motion was preceded bringing them to their final destination that they fished for the rest of the charter.
On one of Louke’s first cast under a dock, something took a hold of his domestic shiner and sent his drag screaming. It peeled off 40 yards of line before the fight began. They knew whatever was on the other end of the line was big. After precise and careful fighting allowing this fish to do all the work, Louke brings it to the boat. They could not believe their eyes what they just caught. It was a Trophy Florida Peacock Bass, the species they came all this way to catch. Legendary fish like this do not come all too often. Louke landed a 7.89 pound peacock bass and could not have been more ecstatic at what was just done. Captain Joe, Louke and his family were all lost for words.
After a legendary morning of fishing, they cruised back to the boat ramp rehydrating for their next epic fishing adventure in Fort Lauderdale. Most would stop their but Louke and his family were going to take full advantage of the Florida Fishing. One of the many things on their list was an Inshore Saltwater night fishing trip.

Louke and his family continued their Fishing Adventure in Fort Lauderdale. After finishing up their legendary freshwater fishing trip, they traveled north to explore what an evening trip had to offer them. It was a warm Saturday night as they pulled up to the 15th Street boat ramp where they would meet Captain Brian. The conditions were yet again perfect for a magical fishing trip.
Louke knew what he was after. The waters of Fort Lauderdale were filled with Snook, Tarpon, Sea Trout and Jack Crevalle. You just never know what will bite the end of your line when you go out South Florida Fishing. As the sun was setting behind the beautiful city line of Fort Lauderdale to the West, everything suddenly changed.
It was not long until the action began and Louke hooks into something of great size. When the fish busted the surface and launched itself from the depths, we knew what we were in-store for. It was a healthy Florida Tarpon weighing roughly 80 pounds. From then, it was a fight of a lifetime. Tarpon are a hard fighting species as well that love to run and do whatever they can to get off the line. Louke held on for the rid as it dragged the boat around as we chased it through bridges and pilings. Big smiles ran across everyone’s face as the drag was screaming.
Captain Brian is an expert as he was able to maneuver and make sure Louke brought this fish to the boat. The local expert was able to get himself and his boat out of tight situations that proven themselves very difficult. Captain Brian lives for these moments where you can watch the joy come across the soul of a young man as they fight their dream fish. As Louke fought this amazing fish to the boat, Captain Brian leader touched and released this incredible Florida Tarpon.
There is nothing like being part of the Best Day of an Anglers Life on the Water. It was a long 45 minute fight that Louke will remember for a lifetime!
Florida Everglades Bass Fishing on Alligator Alley with Captain Joe Gruny
On the final fishing day South Florida Fishing, Louke and his family scheduled a Miami Peacock Bass Fishing trip again. The only issue was that Florida rain storms were going to roll through on this day. One of the down falls of the Falls Canal System is that there were not places to hide and wait out the storms. Captain Joe Gruny recommended that they visit the Florida Everglades as there was protection from the rain under bridges if it got bad.
Louke and his family decided that the Florida Everglades was the right choice especially for something different. They adventured out on Alligator Alley to Mile Marker 35 for another trip of a lifetime catching Florida Largemouth Bass. It was a morning fishing trip which was perfect for a great bite.
If you love bass fishing, get up early and experience the crack of dawn bite that will have you addicted for life. Conditions were excellent for another great day on the water. Everyone was involved on this fishing trip. They caught the most fish they had ever seen. The family of 3 boated over 150 Florida Largemouth Bass.
Everglades Bass Fishing is red hot and will continue to be on fire as long as the water levels remain low. All the fish pour into the main canals off the back flats. A variety of baits work extremely well this time of year. Early in the morning, you should throw a Heddon Spook, Bango Lure or KVD PopX. These top water baits are highly effective to putting big numbers in the boat all trip as well. If you do not like to throw top water baits including wacky senko worms and flukes can help put some great fish in the boat.

A mixed bag best describes the weather and the catching both shallow and deep for the Southwest Fishing report in Florida. Anglers lucky enough to score ideal conditions have been rewarded, while those faced with lumpy seas and brisk winds have experienced a tough grind.
It truly has been an unpredictable weather pattern over the last several weeks. Tropical storms, waves of low pressure and a rare June cold front passage. Despite the fact that it is now officially summer, have kept us on our toes in deciding where to go and what to throw.
The inshore arena experienced a brief cleanup between storm systems, affording anglers some great Snook fishing. A strictly catch-and-release fishery, Snook have poured into the passes and middle bays in increasing numbers. Taking a variety of live and artificial baits, most of the Snook catches have consisted of medium- to over-the-slot-sized fish making their way to the landing net.
Also between weather events, the offshore bite has continued to become more active. Sharks are on the prowl virtually anywhere anglers drop bait, while red grouper have returned in aggregate to their traditional month of June half-day and full-day range haunts.
What has been an added bonus for anglers searching for a light-tackle thrill has been the return of solid numbers of the mighty barracuda. Often referred to as pesky or annoying while prospecting the numerous artificial fish havens, barracuda are quite the adversary when matched to light tackle spinning gear.
A slow trolled/free-lined thread-fin herring or palm-sized blue runner will draw the attention of a ravenous barracuda. If live bait is not available, try casting a brightly colored/multi-hook tube lure. Each presentation should be rigged with wire to avoid cut-offs and all fish should be handled with care to ensure a healthy release.
Gulf fishing between weather systems has proved fruitful for my clients aboard the Grand Slam. Docked at Port of Naples Marina, we have been prospecting select natural hard bottom areas northwest of Gordon Pass in the 8- to 12-mile range, and returning to port with red grouper and an assortment of reef species.
Large profile live baits including pinfish, pigfish and grunts truly have the red grouper responding. Deployed on a traditional fish finder rig, I have had to increase the monofilament leader size to 80- to 100-pound class due to the abundant shark numbers.
Turbid water has lane/mangrove snapper and porgies hitting live shrimp, small bits of squid on a chicken rig or a 1/2-ounce chrome metal jigs worked vertically in a slow fashion. So far the spring bite has yielded excellent size and numbers of snapper, so let’s hope the action remains strong.
In the same range and closer to shore, the fish havens or artificial reefs are producing action packed outings with sharks and barracuda being the highlight. I have been targeting both species on light/medium spinning tackle to ensure exciting, hard-charging battles. The sharks cannot refuse an offering of chunk bait, while the barracuda are responding well to live baits and tube lures cast and rapidly retrieved back to the boat. “The backwaters between Naples and Marco Island have been action-packed when the conditions have been calm, fishing between rough weather has been good for us as well.
We have been working the area passes and bays with a variety of live shrimp, scaled sardines and jigs. Primarily targeting Snook, Redfish and mangrove snapper, reports are that the best action has been at the beginning and end of the strong outgoing tide phase.
Casting shrimp tipped tube jigs in the deeper cuts, passes and flats has yielded mixed bag catches of Jack Crevalle, Speckled trout and a scattering of Pompano.
“For the first time since the devastating 2010 freeze/fish kill, we are experiencing great numbers of big Snook on the outside points from the Chatham River south to the Broad River.
With traditional pilchards or white bait difficult to procure, Turner has been using live finger mullet to entice his Snook catches. Concentrating on the outgoing tide phase, we have been averaging double-digit Snook catches on each outing. Free-lining or presenting his live baits rigged with a small pinch weigh has kept the Snook rods bent for our customers.
Tarpon have also captured everyone’s attention early in the fishing day. While the numbers have diminished over the last several weeks, reports of a few of the popular game fish still prowling the river mouths until the mid morning hours. Large offerings of cut bait have proved as effective natural bait, while larger, well-presented top water lures are also drawing the attention of feeding sliver kings.
