“As we experience what we Floridians deem as cold weather, the Snook have been on and off for the time being. With that being said, when we have
had a couple of warm days in a row the bite is extremely good.
Look for docks with good current movement and a little bit of tinted water. In this cold, they seem to like a little stain in the water, which in turn helps that reaction bite on artificial baits.
Some of the best baits consist of Yo-Zuri minnows or crank baits along with MirrOlure topwater plugs. You can also use DOA TerrorEyz or Shrimp that sit on the bottom where the big Snook are waiting to feed. Redfish up north by the power plant have been consistent and seemingly chewing pretty good on these mid 60’s days we’ve been blessed with recently”

“Right now on great Lake O, we are getting skinnier and skinnier. Water levels are dropping making for great opportunities to cash in on some bigger fish. Fish that have been back in vegetation and in that normal 2-3′ water range are starting to move out towards main lake points and bays.
When you are adventuring out on the water, make sure to keep an eye out for clean water. Keep your eyes open for moving water and current. Observe paths and routes from the main lake to backwaters that can help you locate more fish. As the water continues to drop, the bass will have no other option but to find deeper water.
Shad are thick around outside grass and have good schools of bass hitting top waters, lipless crankbaits and spinner baits. Live wild caught shiners may be the most effective but artificial baits can provide you with a fun and rewarding experience. “

I’ve been fishing since before I could remember; my father always tells a story of my first bass on my own was at two years old. How much of that is true, I’m not sure.
My earliest memories of fishing are from when I was four. I used to fish local tournaments with my father in the Everglades and on Lake Okeechobee. Since then I haven’t known life without bass fishing. I grew up primarily fishing Lake Okeechobee around some of the best anglers known to the sport. I always loved the idea of being a professional guide and giving people the opportunity to see the beauty and experiences fishing has to offer. Growing up with a father that guided professional gave me the tools and knowledge to feel confident in being successful at such a rewarding career.
At the age of 21, I joined the United States Coast Guard. I’ve been on active duty for the past six years. I’ve taken many lessons and fundamentals from my time served and have applied them to many different aspects of my life in order to make myself a well-rounded professional mariner and human being.

My passion for the sport of fishing goes beyond a hobby, my wife likes to say it’s more of an obsession. If I’m not fishing, I’m thinking about fishing, my mind never stops. From fishing new water and finding the fish to getting them to bite and react to different baits. My expertise does not end at bass fishing; I’ve been inshore fishing in Stuart since I was twelve. I remember catching an over-slot Snook for the first time and having a whole new world open up to me. Drag screaming, acrobatic maneuvers, aggressive head shakes, it was an experience that got my attention as much as bass fishing. Since then I have pursued inshore species such as tarpon, redfish, permit, jack, and trout. One thing I love about saltwater is the chance to catch so many different species in one trip. 
Another adventure I love to share with people is the pursuit of the beautiful peacock bass. The peacock bass was introduced here in South Florida in the 1980’s. Originally from the Amazon regions of South America, this fish is as ferocious as it is colorful. Sometimes putting up a fight you weren’t bargaining for.
As a matter of fact, from Lake Ida to Miami, I’ve fished for peacocks since I was 10. A very different experience that is undoubtedly unrivaled. While traveling and visiting from up north, they wanted to land the exotic peacock bass. The big bass were biting on this trip which led to a fantastic day on the water. 
Donald and Steve adventured out on the Miami International Airport Lakes. This is a fantastic destination to land your personal best or largest bass. The likely suspect will be a peacock bass. These gentlemen had a great time with Captain Wayne catching great numbers of fish. Big bass were roaming and eating good with a peacock bass in the boat over 4 pounds. Also, they landed two largemouth bass over 6 pounds.
You truly can’t beat the action here in Miami, FL. Every time you go out on an adventure, it will provide you with a truly unique experience. Donald and Steve are looking forward to exploring Miami again with Captain Wayne.
Just shortly after this awesome fishing trip, Captain Joe Gruny adventured out with repeat clients. Jim and his son Jim explored Florida bass fishing for three days. While visiting from California, they wanted a change of scenery. Bass fishing here in Florida can provide you with the ultimate outdoor experience.
Two of their three days of fishing was spent in the Florida Everglades. Artificial baits dominated their fishing trips. Jim and his son were catching largemouth bass on almost every cast. Wacky worms were a very effective method with an average of 45 bass per day.
The final day was a fantastic day of fishing in Miami. Peacock bass were biting strong with over 17 bass in the boat. After catching them up and enjoying some time on the water, they ended the day with a nice lunch at Sonia’s seafood. Their shrimp dishes are amazing and we highly recommend checking them out. 
Captain Joe is looking forward to spending more time on the water with this father-son duo next year. They will be back for more incredible action.

Captain Brent Nelson had the pleasure of fishing with Richard Sr and Jr. They were traveling from Louisiana. While they were spending time here in Central Florida, getting out on the water was a must. It was a quick 4-hour fishing trip with wild-caught live shiners.
The bass were biting early and often, according to Captain Brent. Fishing on Lake Toho is something truly special. Waiting for the bite can make you inpatient but if you can wait the reward is well worth it. Richard Sr and Jr caught several quality largemouth bass. Most of the fish were in the 3-4 pound range. The biggest two bass were 5.24 and 6 pounds even.
Captain Brent Nelson is looking forward to the next opportunity to get these gentlemen out on Lake Toho again!
It was not long after this awesome fishing trip that more big bass were caught. Our next local expert, Captain John Leech adventured out in search for trophy largemouth bass. Captain John had the pleasure of fishing with Brandon and Keegan. They were supposed to fish the Butler Chain of Lakes but made a switch to Lake Toho as the fishing has been amazing.
If you are looking for trophy-sized bass, come to explore what Lake Toho has to offer. Keegan would definitely agree to this. Keegan was super happy to make the shift to Lake Toho as he put a trophy Florida largemouth bass in the boat. He did not want to hold up the fish so Brandon had the pleasure of holding up an 8.5 pound largemouth bass. 
This is the kind of trip you want to experience when fishing on Lake Toho. These gentlemen had a great time on the water. Captain John is looking forward to catching another trophy-sized bass with Brandon and Keegan in the future!
When the fishing is great, you have to come out here and bend the rod. Captain Steve Niemoeller adventured out with a repeat client of his Bill. Bill came out Lake Toho Bass Fishing 3 weeks prior to this fishing trip with his brother. Now, he is back with his wife Jane. You know what they say; women are a luck charm to catch the biggest bass of the trip.
Jane was super excited to get out in the outdoors. When the bass are biting strong, you will never get tired of being on the water. Jane caught the biggest bass of the trip weighing 6 pounds even. It was a giant bass that made for a great day on the water.

The Rodman Reservoir is ranked in the top ten best bass fishing lakes in the country. It is located in Northeast Florida near Palatka and Gainesville. Lake Okeechobee Algae Bloom
Florida is a destination known for its beautiful scenery, beaches and outdoor life. Yearly conditions can rapidly change and alter your experience. Our lakes here in Florida can be subjected to these changes as well. Algae is one of the major building blocks of ecosystems especially in freshwater. Blue-green algae took a hold of our lakes, press and headlines. 
Lake Okeechobee has been the key focus of a lot of press, media and attention. Nationwide you can see signs of algae blooms but Florida can be subjected to increased exposure and foster rapid growth. Warm waters and heavy rains, mixed with pollution from nearby farm lands and leaky septic tanks from homes around Lake Okeechobee has increased blue-green algae or cyanobacteria blooms this summer.
Luckily as time went on, the bloom dissipated and Lake Okeechobee is back to normal. There was no fish kill on Lake Okeechobee and the bass fishing was fantastic throughout the whole summer. Residents around the lake are glad to see that the lake has come back to life. Local expert and professional Captain Mark Shepard states “water clarity is clear with no signs of algae across the whole lake and the bass fishing is going to be spectacular during these later months of the year along with this upcoming spawn season.” There was no fish kill that occurred during this bloom on Lake Okeechobee! Big bass are not only going to be caught later in the year but also right now. We are seeing increased activity and feeding from quality bass all day long. Don’t miss out because the lake is looking better than ever and is going to produce some trophy sized bass this winter.
